Bathroom Mirrors

How do I choose a bathroom mirror?

Start with the size of your vanity unit and the wall space above it. The mirror should feel balanced with the basin, taps, lighting and any bathroom cabinets nearby.

Think about how you use the bathroom day to day. An LED mirror or front lit mirror is useful for shaving, skincare and applying makeup, while a backlit mirror creates a softer, more relaxing glow. A mirror cabinet is a good choice if you need extra storage.

The best bathroom mirror depends on your vanity size, lighting, storage needs, bathroom style and available wall space.

Should your bathroom mirror be bigger or smaller than your vanity?

In most bathrooms, the mirror should be the same width as the vanity unit or slightly smaller. This usually gives the most balanced look and keeps the mirror feeling connected to the basin area.

A mirror that is wider than the vanity can still work, especially in larger bathrooms or where you want to make the space feel bigger, but it should not overpower the wall, lights or surrounding furniture.

As a simple guide, choose a mirror that is slightly narrower than the vanity for a neat, classic look, the same width for a stronger modern look, or wider only if the wall space and bathroom layout can carry it.

Should I choose a bathroom mirror or a bathroom mirror cabinet?

Choose a simple bathroom mirror if you mainly want style, light and a cleaner wall finish. Choose a mirror cabinet if you need extra storage above the basin or vanity unit. A bathroom mirror cabinet can be especially useful in ensuites and busy family bathrooms.

What is the difference between a backlit and front lit bathroom mirror?

Backlit bathroom mirrors create a soft glow behind the mirror and are great for atmosphere. Front lit bathroom mirrors shine light forward, making them better for shaving, skincare and applying makeup. For the best everyday lighting, a front lit mirror is usually more practical.
