Baths FAQ

What type of bath is best for a family bathroom?

A straight bath, shower bath or back to wall bath can all work well in a family bathroom, depending on the space and how the room will be used.

A straight bath is a practical choice for everyday bathing and works well for young children. A shower bath is ideal if you need both a bath and shower in one space, especially where there is no room for a separate shower enclosure. A back to wall bath can give a more stylish, fitted look while still being practical for family use.

What is a shower bath?

A shower bath is designed so you can comfortably shower and bathe in the same area. It is a good option for family bathrooms, smaller bathrooms or homes where there is no space for a separate shower enclosure and bath.

---

What is the difference between a freestanding bath and a back to wall bath?

A freestanding bath stands away from the wall and creates a statement feature in the room. A back to wall bath sits against the wall, giving a similar stylish look while often being more practical for plumbing, cleaning and space.

---

Is a freestanding bath a good idea?

A freestanding bath is a good idea if you have enough space and want the bath to be a feature. It can make a bathroom feel more luxurious, but it usually needs more room around it than a standard fitted bath.

---

What is a straight bath?

A straight bath is a standard rectangular bath that usually fits neatly against a wall. It is one of the most practical bath choices for family bathrooms, renovations and new builds.

---

Are corner baths still popular?

Corner baths can still work well in the right bathroom layout, especially where the shape of the room suits them. They are less common than straight baths and freestanding baths, but they can be useful when you want a wider bathing area.

---

Do I need a bath screen or shower door for a bath?

If you are having a shower over the bath, you will usually need a bath screen for the bath to help keep water inside the showering area. A bath screen gives a cleaner, more modern look than a shower curtain.

---

What is a bath and shower mixer tap?

A bath and shower mixer tap combines bath taps with a handheld shower attachment. It is useful for rinsing the bath, washing hair, cleaning, or adding shower functionality to a bath.

---

Can I have a shower over any bath?

Not every bath is ideal for showering over. If you want a shower over the bath, choose a suitable bath shape, bath screen and wall tile finish so the area is comfortable, practical and easy to clean.
